Eisen voor reanimatie en EHBO voor kinderopvang

Als u in de kinderopvang werkt in Nigeria — of het nu in een kinderdagverblijf, peuterspeelzaal, thuisopvang of kamp is — is de certificering in EHBO en reanimatie niet optioneel. Het is een vergunningsvereiste, en terecht: kinderen behoren tot de meest kwetsbaren voor verstikking, allergische reacties en verwondingen. Voorbereid zijn om in te grijpen kan alles veranderen.

Wat Nigeria vereist

Nigeria's National Minimum Standard for Early Child Care Centres (2007) lists first-aid materials and qualified staff among the minimum conditions a centre must meet, alongside staffing ratios for the youngest age groups. It does not, however, spell out a mandatory first-aider certification or a renewal cycle. The intent of the standard is clear all the same: the adults responsible for infants and toddlers should be equipped and able to handle an emergency.

Epinephrine auto-injectors are not available nationally and rely on importation, and no rule requires a Nigerian centre to keep them.
